The HK House of Peers announces Fire and ICE - its next convention in 2011. Collectors of Harmony Kingdom and Adam Binder Editions will enjoy our guest artists:
Peter Calvesbert and Adam Binder.

Join us on June 23 – 26, 2011
at the DoubleTree Hotel in Skokie , Illinois .

Skokie is a suburb just 15 miles north of Chicago and a 20 minute ride from O'Hare International Airport.
Registration for Collectors is $250 and for Associates is $140.
Special convention room rate is $89.00 per night plus tax (available 3 days before and after the event). Details for making your reservations will be available in July.

Mark your calendars now – Early Bird Registration will open this summer! As we get closer to the start of registration, we’ll have more information posted on the HOP web site, www.HouseOfPeers.com. Harmony Midwest , Purrfect Harmony and the Adam Binder Club are hosting a Welcome Party on Thursday, June 23, 2011 .

UPDATE: JULY 11, 2011

 
We have the first view of the two main event figurines - the early bird figurine for Collectors who register at least 6 1/2 months before the convention and the event figurine.

Since we have two artists attending, we asked Peter Calvesbert to carve the early bird figurine and Adam Binder to carve the event figurine. All Collectors will receive the event figurine by Adam as part of their registration package. All collectors who register by mid-November will also receive the early bird figurine by Peter as part of their registration package.

Additionally Adam and Peter decided to coordinate their pieces to fit our theme of FIRE and ICE. To make it easy, one did fire and the other did ice.
Peter used "fire" as his inspiration.
  • The great Chicago fire of 1871 was erroneously reported to have been started by Mrs. O'Leary's cow who knocked over a lantern. That story was one made up by a newspaper man.
  • Peter decided to depict the "real" way that the fire was started - at least his version. In his version, Mrs. O'Leary's cow is asleep in a rocker holding her prize box of cigars. Mice have stolen the cigars and are enjoying a smoke.

Adam used "ice" as his inspiration. 
  • Adam was recently recognizes by winning the "David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year 2010" His 'Sinking Feeling' is his Bronze Polar Bear that won the Sculpture Category and then went on to win the overall competition to earn him the "Artist of the Year".
  • With the theme of "ice" as his inspiration, Adam used his sucess with with his other polar bear to bring us a bear and cubs on an iceberg.

The HK House of Peers (HOP), in conjunction with Harmony Kingdom and Adam Binder, is pleased to begin registration for our convention – Fire & ICE – which will be held June 23-26, 2011, in Chicago.  We are pleased to announce that both Peter Calvesbert and Adam Binder are our artists!  All Adam Binder Editions and Harmony Kingdom collectors are welcome.

                                            

Both our guest artists have created special pieces for this event.  Peter Calvesbert chose “fire” as his inspiration for the Early Bird piece, and has created Light My Fire, which may explain how the Great Chicago Fire really started.  This piece is available only to Collectors who register before November 15, 2010.  Adam Binder, who recently won the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation’s Wildlife Artist of the Year 2010 award for his bronze sculpture of a polar bear, chose “ice” as his inspiration and has created the main event piece On The Brink, available to all Collectors who register.

    Registration is open now!  Two registration options are available: Collector is $250 and includes the event pieces as well as a huge goodie bag, some meals, and all activities; Associate is $140, but does not include the event pieces.  To be eligible for the Early Bird piece, register and make a deposit no later than November 15th.  (Final payment is due by February 14th.)  HOP has negotiated a special hotel room rate for this event – only $89 per night (plus tax).

  Photographs of Adam's Event pieces, Fire Dragon and Ice Dragon, have now been released! The Fire dragon can be purchased at the Thursday night Reception. This just in from Leanna Barron: "A set of two pendants, Polar Bear and Seal, is Adam Binder's personal piece. The funds raised from the sale of this pendant set goes to Adam. This is a boxed set of two pendants at $50 each. All registrants (collectors and associates) can purchase this pendant set using our secure OPTIONS ORDER FORM page.



There will also be an extra 8% to 10% of those sold created in a black stain (the regular version is brown) to be given away as gifts on Sunday morning. During the Brunch Finale on Sunday, Adam will draw names from the participants who purchased the pendant. These lucky winners will receive his special black stained version of the Adam Binder Pendant Set, at no cost."
